MON MALÉ: Textile treasures for daily rituals

A smiling woman with dark hair sits behind a stack of folded patterned fabrics, wearing a white shirt and a bright blue necklace in a warm, softly lit indoor setting.

History

Núria Malé founded MonMalé in 2022 to preserve textile craftsmanship and traditional techniques with a contemporary twist.

She discovered embroidery in Calcutta and learnt to embroider in Hakola, a Bengali village in the middle of the jungle, accessible only by bicycle. After two weeks in front of the frame, she understood that her future life had something to do with it.

A vintage black Metabole sewing machine sits on a green-tinted wooden table against a beige wall decorated with framed illustrations, a wooden hoop, and keys. To the left is a wooden chest of drawers.

L'Atelier

Mon Malé’s atelier, located just above the showroom, is a small laboratory of ideas where our textile treasures come to life. Everything revolves around the worktable, where each piece is developed from the initial idea to the final piece.Everything around us also plays a part in the process, making the space itself a source of inspiration.

Materials

Materials are the starting point for every collection. We select vintage textiles, deadstock fabrics, ribons, stones… collected here and there. Rather than using them immediately, we let them rest until their moment comes to take centre stage and be transformed into one of our textile treasures.

Working with materials that already exist is the only true way to be sustainable. The availability of the materials makes each collection a limited edition, this is our stand against mass production.
